That's made all the more incredible by the fact that the central Indiana facility is home to a
high school team.
The
New Castle (Ind.) Trojans have played in the world's largest high school basketball gymnasium since 1959 and actually exceeded capacity back in the days of Steve Alford and Kent Benson. The school was called New Castle Chrysler High School until a 2007 vote to take Chrysler out of the name.
In addition to New Castle games, the venue hosts the annual Hall of Fame Classic each December. That event is typically a gathering of state championship hopefuls, and 13 participants since 1990 have gone on to win a title.

Current UCLA head coach and former Indiana Hoosiers legend Steve Alford played his high school basketball at New Castle. Alford averaged nearly 40 points per game as a senior.
