The son of former NBA star and current University of Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway, Ashton is a 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward is regarded as the No. 142 prospect in the Class of 2023 overall according to 247Sports. He holds offers from Boston College, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, San Diego, SMU, Texas State, Texas Tech, USC and Wyoming.
Playing for Duncanville during his junior campaign, Hardaway averaged 10.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists while helping the Panthers finish the season 35-1 en route to the No. 1 spot in the final MaxPreps Top 25.
The senior joins the sons of LeBron James –
Bronny and Bryce James – on the current Sierra Canyon roster. Other sons of current or former NBA players who have suited up for the Trailblazers include Scotty Pippen Jr., Kenyon Martin Jr., Duane Washington Jr. and Terren Frank.
Sierra Canyon is still looking to recover from the off-season departures of graduating seniors Amari Bailey, Kijani Wright, Ramel Lloyd Jr. and Jeremiah Nyarko along with outgoing transfers Trentyn Flowers, Mike Price, Malik Rasul and Tim Rudovsky.
Hardaway joins fellow incoming transfers
Jimmy Oladokun from Damien (La Verne, Calif.) and
Bryce Cofield from West Ranch (Valencia, Calif.).
As its roster currently stands, the Southern California powerhouse looks to be on the outside of the preseason MaxPreps Top 25 rankings.
