"He really likes the environment up there, the coaches and the kids,"
South Fort Myers (Fla.) head coach Grant Redhead told the News-Press. "It's comfortable for him; it feels like home."
As a sophomore Watkins made an instant impact by hauling in 23 passes for 527 yards and seven scores. He followed up that performance with a mammoth junior season that saw him register 1,192 receiving yards and 16 scores.
Thus far in 2010, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Watkins has 15 total touchdowns.
He joins a Clemson recruiting class that already features running back
Mike Bellamy and receiver
Charone Peake. Like Watkins, both possess top-flight speed that gives the Tigers one of the more dynamic recruiting classes.
Prior to Watkins' commitment, Clemson had the sixth-rated recruiting class in the country and could rise even higher.
