In a back and forth game,
St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.)'s offense came through to hand the the Braves a 44-41 win.
After trailing 31-14 at the half, the Lions went ahead on a field goal by
Greg Bucilla with under a minute left in the fourth. St. John Bosco finally took the lead for good as
Darren Walker ran for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fifth quarter.
SJB saw its 17-point halftime lead fall to 10 entering the fourth.
The Bellflower school didn't take the lead for good until the overtime when Walker ran for a touchdown.
The Braves' standout player in the win was Walker. The senior running back ran for four touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Bucilla made a difference for JSerra Catholic. The senior kicked two field goals and four extra points.
St. John Bosco also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 48-14.
With the win SJB extended its winning streak to three games.
In a Trinity game next week St. John Bosco (3-4) takes on Mater Dei, and JSerra Catholic (5-2) will go up against Servite also in a Trinity game.
