Marion Local (Maria Stein, Ohio) kept high school football's longest win streak alive against unbeaten
Coldwater (Ohio) last week and subsequently moved to No. 1 in the latest edition of the Small Town Top 25.
The
Flyers blanked Coldwater 35-0, raising their win streak to 58 games and breaking the state record of 57 held by
St. John's (Delphos). Marion Local also finished the regular season 10-0 and will
begin the Division VII state playoffs against
Fort Recovery this week.
Coldwater,
which saw its undefeated season come to an end against Marion Local,
moved up from No. 9 to No. 3 in the Small Town Top 25.
Minster (Ohio), which wasn't ranked last month, finished the regular season 8-2
with losses to Marion Local and Coldwater. The Wildcats enter the
rankings at No. 8.
Carthage (Texas), which was ranked No. 1 to
begin the season and again in the September rankings, moves down to No. 2
while previous No. 2
Louisville (Miss.) drops to No. 5.
Teams
are ordered based on the MaxPreps computer rankings. To be eligible for inclusion in the Small Town Top 25, schools must have an enrollment of less than 1,000 in a town with a population
under 10,000. Teams are listed with their overall record and computer
rating.
