The Columbus City League owns its share of legends. Walnut Ridge (Columbus) senior VonCameron Davis talked to two of those icons and in return became one himself.
"I really didn't know much about Mr. Basketball until a few years ago, but Jared (Sullinger) and Trey (Burke) talked to me about how important it was," Davis told the Columbus Dispatch. "I made it a goal coming into the season. I realize that a lot of it has to do with team success, and took care of that this year, so I'm thankful to my teammates."
Davis, the 2019-20 Suddenlink Ohio Player of the Year, led the Scots (22-5) to their first CCL title since 1971 and a Division I district championship. The Kent State recruit averaged 26.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game and shot 52.7 percent from the field.
A 6-foot-5 forward, Davis was
recently named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball — a feat both Sullinger (twice) and Burke achieved at Northland High School before standout careers at Ohio State and Michigan, respectively. Both reached the NBA.
Davis and Sullinger are the only boys basketball players to earn first-team All-CCL honors all four years.
Davis averaged 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds as a freshman, 22.8 points and 6.9 rebounds as a sophomore and 27.5 points and 11.6 rebounds as a junior. He finishes his career with 2,201 points and 819 rebounds.

Nation’s No. 1 shooting guard prospect and No. 3 overall prospect for 2022, according to 247Sports. Averaged 32.5 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. Scored 50 in a 76-65 win over Bristol, and went for 40 points or more six times.

Anthony shot 63 percent from the field, 38 percent from 3-point range and 74 percent at the free throw line.
