Top 25 high school football rankings

For the second straight week, there were no upsets among teams in the Xcellent 25 Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

However, there are two new additions to the Top 10.

Armwood (Seffner, Fla.) and Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, Calif.) check in at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. The Hawks drilled King 41-0 one week after shutting out Plant.

The Diablos moved up following an impressive 42-14 win over Redlands East Valley. They are pushing Westlake (Westlake Village, Calif.) for the top ranking among Southern California teams.

Virginia powerhouse Phoebus (Hampton, Va.) moved up three spots to No. 12. The Phantoms’ defense has been lights out, as evidenced by its shutout of Kecoughtan.

Colerain (Cincinnati, Ohio), which was previously ranked No. 6, dropped to No. 11 after struggling to beat Hamilton (Ohio). The news wasn’t all bad for the Cardinals, however, as elsewhere Northmont (Clayton, Ohio) upset previously-unbeaten Centerville (Centerville, Ohio) 24-21. Colerain blew out Northmont 35-6 earlier in the season, and that win looks even more impressive now.

Also falling in the rankings was Bingham (South Jordan, Utah). The Miners trailed at halftime to West Jordan but pulled it together in the second half to come away with a 54-20 win.

Concerns about Stony Point's (Round Rock, Texas) defense following a 49-34 victory over Georgetown dropped the Tigers two spots to No. 19.

Xcellent 25 High School Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard

1. (1) Trinity (Euless, Texas), 7-0
Trinity continued its offensive assault by posting 48 points against Haltom. Terrence Tusan rushed for 271 yards and four touchdowns in the blowout.

2. (2) South Panola (Batesville, Miss.), 7-0
After jumping to a 37-0 lead at halftime, the Tigers cruised to a 44-0 win over Columbus. South Panola will take on Tupelo next weekend in a highly-anticipated matchup.

3. (3) Grant (Sacramento, Calif.), 6-0
Ference Lang had another stellar game for Grant, rushing for four touchdowns. Star junior Shaq Thompson added another as the Pacers downed Elk Grove 61-7.

4. (4) St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 5-0
Aquinas, one of the hottest teams in the country, blasted Nova 45-0. Jacob Rudock connected on three more touchdown passes to lead the Raiders.

5. (5) Hoover (Hoover, Ala.), 7-0
Justin McArthur and Brandon Cochran combined for five touchdowns to lead Hoover to a 48-28 win over Homewood.

6. (7) West Monroe (West Monroe, La.), 6-0
West Monroe turned a 31-0 halftime lead into an easy 45-13 victory over Ouachita Parish.

7. (8) Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), 5-0
Showing no letdown following a victory over rival Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco Prep trounced Kennedy 58-6. Paul Canevari scored twice and the defense did not allow a first down until the third quarter.

8. (9) Westlake (Westlake Village, Calif.), 5-0
Sophomore Justin Moore returned the opening kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown to set the tone for Westlake’s 56-6 win over Simi Valley.

9. (11) Armwood (Seffner, Fla.), 5-0
For the third week in a row, Armwood did not allow a point, blanking King 41-0 Friday night. Quarterback Josh Grady threw for 238 yards and a score and running back Matt Jones found the end zone for the Hawks.

10. (12) Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, Calif.), 6-0
Mission Viejo rolled up 475 yards of offense, pounding Redlands East Valley 42-14. Bryan Keller caught two long touchdown passes from junior Alex Bridgford for the Diablos.

11. (6) Colerain (Cincinnati, Ohio), 7-0
Trayion Durham plunged into the end zone on fourth-and-goal with less than nine minutes to play to give Colerain a 17-14 lead over Hamilton. His touchdown was the final score of the game, as the Cardinals held on for a close victory.

12. (15) Phoebus (Hampton, Va.), 6-0
Defense was the story of the game for Phoebus, as the Phantoms pitched their fourth shutout in six games, blanking Kecoughtan 44-0.

13. (13) Glenville (Cleveland, Ohio), 6-0
Head coach Ted Ginn’s squad has not been tested in weeks, as Glenville coasted to a 46-0 win over Lincoln West. Cardale Jones threw for four more touchdowns to lead the Tarblooders.

14. (14) Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), 4-1
Jacoby Brissett registered 267 yards and three scores in a 62-6 Dwyer win over Palm Beach Lakes.

15. (16) Katy (Katy, Texas), 7-0
Senior running back Donovonn Young compiled 249 yards and four touchdowns and Adam Taylor tallied 121 yards and two scores for Katy in a 63-0 win over Morton Ranch.

16. (18) Servite (Anaheim, Calif.), 5-0
Idle this week.

17. (19) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), 5-0
De La Salle put up 49 or more points for the second straight week, routing Amador Valley 56-0. The Spartans scored on their first six drives to put the game away early.

18. (20) Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.), 5-0
Sophomore quarterback Cord Sandberg completed 14 of 14 passes for 220 yards and rushed for another 89 yards as Manatee beat Sarasota 45-10.

19. (17) Stony Point (Round Rock, Texas), 7-0
Stony Point’s offense rang up 49 points, enough to withstand 34 points from Georgetown. Sam Kelley sparked the Tiger offense with three touchdowns.

20. (10) Bingham (South Jordan, Utah), 7-0
Bingham did not look like itself in the first half, trailing 16-10 to West Jordan. The Miners bounced back, thanks to three touchdown passes from quarterback Stefan Cantwell.

21. (21) Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.), 7-0
Justin Worley threw four touchdown passes, three of which went to Robert Joseph, in Northwestern’s 35-12 victory over Spartanburg.

22. (22) Cocoa (Cocoa, Fla.), 6-0
Cocoa’s 30th straight win came at the expense of Satellite, which the Tigers beat 35-6. Chris Cuff intercepted two passes to spark the Cocoa defense, while Tarean Folston rushed for 150 yards and two scores on offense.

23. (23) Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.), 5-1
Quarterbacks Joel Ruiz and Brice Ramsey each accounted for two touchdowns as Camden County rebounded following a loss to Aquinas by beating Benedictine 49-0.

24. (24) Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), 8-0
Playing for Kyren Poe, who left the game with a shoulder injury, backup Blake Kemp threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Hamilton downed previously-unbeaten Salpointe Catholic 31-14.

25. (25) Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.), 7-0
Mallard Creek overcame big plays from the Vance offense to prevail 44-20. Quarterback Marquise Williams scored four total touchdowns to continue his fine play.
