Other Division I
winners Thursday included
Basha (Chandler, Ariz.), 32-29 over Brophy College Prep, and
Desert Vista (Phoenix, Ariz.), 52-7 over Pinnacle.
Taylor scored on a 15-yard pass in the second period to put Hamilton ahead 20-0. He added another score in the fourth quarter on a 58-yard pass from Kemp. According to the Arizona Republic, Taylor finished the game with four receptions for 107 yards. Taylor is the leading receiver on the season for the Huskies with 70 catches for 882 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Kemp opened the scoring in the first period with a 19-yard run.
Daniel Wichman added the first of his four extra point kicks on the night and Hamilton had a 7-0 lead after one quarter of play.
Hakim Mathieu added a 9-yard run in the second quarter to put the Huskies up 14-0 and set up Taylor's first touchdown of the night.
The matchup was markedly different than the first meeting between the teams in September, when Hamilton needed to score 15 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a 21-13 deficit for a 28-21 victory. Chandler fumbled the ball five times in the final quarter in that game, giving Hamilton the opportunity to keep its long win streak alive.
Chandler was unable to get on the scoreboard Thursday, providing Hamilton with its third shutout of the season. The loss is the 16th straight for Chandler against the Huskies, according to the Arizona Republic.
The Huskies face Desert Vista on Nov. 17 in a semifinal matchup. Hamilton defeated Desert Vista 35-10 in early October.
