Video: Team rallies from 28-point deficit100-yard interception return highlights huge comeback.Fort Bend Kempner (Sugar Land, Texas) stunned Clear Falls 34-31 in overtime on Thursday night, overcoming a 28-point deficit thanks in large part to a spectacular 100-yard interception return by
Festus Akinwumi.
Akinwumi picked off a pass at the goal line, eluded multiple defenders and raced into the end zone for a remarkable score that helped Kempner pull within 28-18 after falling behind 28-0 to start the game.
The momentum continued on subsequent drives, as Kempner scored twice more to take a 31-28 lead.
Clear Falls refused to go quietly, however. On fourth down with less than 10 seconds left, it hit a game-tying field goal to send the game into overtime.
A big defensive stand followed by a 23-yard field goal sealed the incredible comeback victory for Kempner.
The victory won't be forgotten anytime soon, nor will Akinwumi's stunning touchdown.
