Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.) and DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) each cracked the Composite Top 25 this week after impressive wins.
The routed back-to-back
Florida 6A state champs Northwestern (Miami) 48-21 as they scored a
touchdown on their first seven possessions and ended the night with 379
yards rushing.
Jacurri Brown ran for 174 yards and two scores while adding another touchdown through the air.
The Stags return to the MaxPreps Top 25 after a 42-0 win over St. Ignatius (Cleveland).
Marshawn Lloyd and
Sieh Bangura
both rushed for two scores. The Stags have won three straight since a
season opening loss to No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.). They
have outscored opposition 109-6 during the win streak.
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) was idle and remained No. 1 in preparation of the Monarch's trip east to face St. John's (Washington, D.C.) on Sept. 27. The Cadets, who own the
nation's toughest schedule, have dropped three straight to Top 25 programs.
Only schools recognized by two or more media outlets are eligible for
inclusion in the composite rankings. Teams were assigned a score of 40
for each media outlet that did not recognize them as part of their Top
25, rewarding teams that received consensus acclaim.
