Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. A special shoutout goes to St. Thomas More's senior William Cryer, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
St. Thomas More got a 57 - 15 win over Carencro last week, and a key reason for the win was senior William Cryer. Cryer earned four touchdowns and 140 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Cryer among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between John Curtis Christian and Archbishop Rummel, 1st and 9th in the power rankings, respectively. John Curtis Christian took its game against Archbishop Rummel by a confident 44 - 21 score. Archbishop Rummel had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 9.83 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off John Curtis Christian.
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Notre Dame last week (their 4th in a row). Everything went its way against Welsh as it secured a 57 - 0 win. Notre Dame especially relied on senior Noah Bourgeois, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and junior Ben Broussard, who tossed the ball for 281 yards and four TDs. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by three, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Edna Karr (7th in the power rankings) and Easton (5th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Easton and Edna Karr both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Easton with five and Edna Karr with six), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
