KEALAKEKUA, Hawaii - In spite of trailing
Hawaii Prep (Kamuela, Hawaii) 16 points,
Konawaena (Kealakekua, Hawaii) surged back to grab a 27-19 win over
Hawaii Prep (Kamuela, Hawaii) Saturday.
After taking the lead on a field goal, the Ka Makani went into halftime with a 16-0 lead. The Wildcats took the lead to win the game on a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 14 points in the third, Konawaena still trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter. But 13 points in the fourth helped KHS pull out the victory.
The Kealakekua school didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when they ran for a touchdown.
A 43-0 Konawaena victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Hawaii Prep, which notched a 28-24 victory over Kamehameha Hawai'i in its previous outing.
