Mitchell Stone on the baseball field. He's the one who stands head and shoulders above the crowd.
That's because Stone, a
Deer Creek (Edmond, Okla.) lefthander listed anywhere from 6-foot-9 to 6-foot-10, is easily the tallest player on the field. And when he's one the mound, he has an even bigger advantage over his opponent.
Ranked as the No. 46 overall prospect in the Class of 2017 by Perfect Game, he also ranks as one of the top five lefthanded pitchers in the class and the No. 2 player in Oklahoma. He has been clocked throwing 94 and has consistently thrown in the low 90s.
For the season, Stone has a 7-1 record with 77 strikeouts in 50 innings with a 0.70 ERA. Despite his long frame, he has not been an easy out at the plate. He is hitting just under .250 on the season with eight doubles and four home runs.
Deer Creek is 26-8 on the season with a recent win over Stillwater, which is the top-ranked team in the state.
