You vote, you decide. MaxPreps is proud to again sponsor the Ohio Athlete of the Week awards during the 2022-23 school year.
Each week during the season, there will be a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. Each winner receives a letter and award patch for their varsity jacket.
How does it work? Nominees are selected from statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may request their free account here. Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.
Participants may vote as many times as they want. It's a competition.

Week 1 Ohio High School Athlete of the Week Nominees
* Malcolm Lane, Clearview (Lorain) Football
Junior had three interceptions and eight tackles in a 19-0 win over Parma.
* Eli Jones, Williamsburg Boys Soccer
Senior had five goals and an assist I a 9-1 win over Eastern, five goals in an 8-0 win over Deer Park and three goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Fayetteville-Perry.
* Connor Corbett, Heath Football
Sophomore linebacker had 20 tackles (16 solo) in a 28-27 win over Liberty Union.
* Kirsten Bomholt, Versailles Volleyball
Senior had 49 kills and 19 digs in wins over Ottawa-Glandorf, St. Marys Memorial and Fort Loramie.
* Cael Liette, Tippecanoe (Tipp City) Football
Junior linebacker had 20 tackles (12 solo), three TFL and a sack in a 14-10 win over Bellbrook.
* Addi Pittman, Ontario (Mansfield) Girls Soccer
Freshman scored six goals in her varsity debut (13-1 win over Mansfield Christian). The next time out she knocked home the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Lexington.
* Dane Nauman, Highland (Marengo) Football
Junior running back carried the ball 31 times for 300 yards and a TD in a 17-14 win over Fredericktown. Also had 10 tackles and 2.5 TFL.
* Alex Schiavi, Jackson-Milton (North Jackson) Football
Senior quarterback completed 16-of-24 passes for 295 yards and seven TDs in a 54-0 win over Leetonia.
