
Off to a 2-0 start, Coppell sits at No. 3 in the Texas Top 25 rankings.

There was little movement at the top, but a handful of changes in the lower half of this week's MaxPreps Texas Top 25.
The top four — Allen, Katy, Coppell and DeSoto — all went to 2-0 with impressive wins and are included in the
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national rankings.
Five 2-0 teams pushed their way into the lower half of the Texas ranking this week: A&M Consolidated (College Station), Churchill (San Antonio), Mansfield Timberview (Arlington), Hendrickson (Pflugerville) and Duncanville.

The Eagles relied on a strong kicking game to remain unbeaten at their $60 million stadium in a 39-20 victory over 1-1 Cedar Hill.
Ryan Johnson had a 10-yard blocked punt return for a touchdown,
Cory Miller raced for two points with a blocked conversion and
Carlos Arochi kicked field goals of 38, 40 and 41 yards for the defending Class 5A Division I state champion. Up next is a Friday road game at 1-1 Richardson.
2. Katy 2-0 (2)
Rodney Anderson, a Texas A&M pledge, scored five touchdowns in a 49-0 blanking of 1-1 Alief Taylor (Houston). Anderson rushed for 131 yards and three scores and added 75 yards and two touchdowns on pass receptions. Quarterback
Kiley Huddleston was forced to the sideline early in the game with an injury, but replacement
Garrett Doiron threw for 126 yards and two scores. The Tigers put their 40-game regular-season victory streak on the line in a Saturday meeting with The Woodlands (1-1).
3. Coppell 2-0 (3)
The efficient Cowboys got production from all phases of the offense in a 49-29 defeat of 0-2 Boyd (McKinney).
Gavin McDaniel rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on just 10 carries.
Charles West ran for 96 yards and a score. Quarterback
Skyler Bonneau was 8-for-8 passing for 189 yards and two scores. On Friday, the Cowboys meet 1-1 Rockwall in their home opener.
4. DeSoto 2-0 (4)
Senior
Desmon White threw for 230 yards and rushed for 99 more in the Eagles' 44-20 defeat of 0-1 Union (Tulsa, Okla.) Saturday at Southlake's Dragon Stadium. A concern, however, is the three touchdown passes and 300 passing yards racked up by Union. All four touchdowns DeSoto has allowed this season have come through the air. On Saturday night, the Eagles will face 0-1 Trinity (Euless) at Dallas' Kincaide Stadium.
5. Lamar (Houston) 2-0 (6)
Three interceptions and a fumble recovery set the tone for a 38-6 triumph over 1-1 Fort Bend Elkins (Missouri City). Lamar quarterback
Darrell Colbert bounced back from an early fumble to throw for one score and rush for another. On Friday, the Redskins host 2-0 West Brook (Beaumont).
6. Westfield (Houston) 2-0 (8)
Senior quarterback
William Dedon threw for two scores and ran for two in a 42-13 thumping of 1-1 Memorial (Houston).
Akpaffiong Tisdale rushed for 99 yards and added a 54-yard touchdown reception for the Mustangs. On Thursday, Westfield takes on 1-1 Klein Collins (Spring).
7. North Shore (Houston) 2-0 (7)
The Mustangs overcame some early sloppiness and a 10-point deficit in a 24-20 victory over 1-1 Manvel. Quarterback
Lawance McCardell, who threw 10 straight incomplete passes at one point, connected on a 22-yarder to
Howard Scott in the fourth quarter to set up his own keeper for the winning points.
Dorance Armstrong led the North Shore defense with a pair of sacks. Up next is a Friday trip to 2-0 Cinco Ranch (Katy).
8. Madison (San Antonio) 2-0 (10)
Three touchdowns in just five offensive plays helped the Mavericks pull away for a 42-24 victory over 1-1 Tivy (Kerrville). Quarterback
Cody Ennis accounted for four touchdowns, three on passes. The 6-4 senior passed for 261 yards and rushed for 78 more. Up next is the home opener on Friday against 0-2 New Braunfels.
9. Bowie (Arlington) 2-0 (12)
Versatile junior
Tony James rushed for 150 yards and four touchdowns on six carries in a 57-22 blowout of 1-1 Mesquite. James also made two pass receptions and completed four passes.
Brican Crossley contributed an 84-yard kickoff return for the Volunteers. Up next is a Friday road game against 1-1 Skyline (Dallas).
10. Cedar Hill 1-1 (9)
The Longhorns came within three yards of matching Allen in total yardage in a 39-20 loss to the top-ranked Eagles. Junior quarterback
Justin McMillan threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns with all the scoring passes going to fellow junior
Damarkus Lodge. On Saturday, the Horns conclude non-district play against 0-2 Ozen (Beaumont) at Dallas' Kincaide Stadium.
11. Trinity (Euless) 0-1 (5)
The Trojans couldn't hold on to a 10-point third-quarter lead in a 27-23 loss to 2012 Oklahoma Class 6A state champion Jenks (1-0). Senior
Isaac Ellsworth led Trinity with 138 rushing yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. On Saturday, the Trojans face 2-0 DeSoto at Dallas' Kincaide Stadium.

12. Carroll (Southlake) 1-1 (15)
Junior quarterback
Ryan Agnew rushed for 144 yards and four touchdowns and passed for 246 yards and three scores in the Dragons' 63-14 mauling of visiting Lee (Midland). Coming off last week's 49-27 loss to No. 1 Allen, Carroll limited the 1-1 Rebels to just 152 yards. On Friday, the Dragons will face 1-1 Temple at Waco‘s Floyd Casey Stadium.
13. Steele (Cibolo) 1-1 (17)
One week after incurring its first regular season loss since 2010, the Knights forced seven turnovers (six in the second half) and thumped 1-1 Judson (Converse) 51-34.
Justin Stockton rushed for 213 yards and five touchdowns for Steele. On Thursday, the Knights host 1-1 Tivy (Kerrville).
14. Pearland 2-0 (21)
Senior quarterback
Kalen Johnson threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns as the Oilers won 49-0 for the second straight week, this one over 0-2 Fort Bend Kempner (Sugar Land). Kempner could manage only 34 yards and three first downs against the Pearland defense. On Friday, the Oilers go on the road for the first time to meet 1-1 Memorial (Houston).
15. Manvel 1-1 (11)
Deriq King, the sophomore in Manvel's two quarterback system, threw for 118 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 104 yards, but it wasn't enough as the Mavericks lost 24-20 to 2-0 Galena Park North Shore (Houston). Up next is 0-1 Ball (Galveston).
16. Skyline (Dallas) 1-1 (13)
Sederian Copeland threw for 319 yards to help the Raiders overcome a 10-point deficit only to lose 27-24 to 1-1 Martin (Arlington) on a late touchdown pass. Skyline failed on all four conversion attempts (three kicks and a run). Up next is the home opener against 2-0 Bowie (Arlington) on Friday.
17. Cedar Park 1-1 (14)
For the second straight season, a last-second field goal by 1-1 Cooper (Abilene) kicker Zach Lehr led to a Timberwolves' three-point defeat. The score this time was 24-21, snapping a 15-game winning streak by the defending Class 4A Division II state champs.
Joey Carter rushed for 96 yards and a 27-yard touchdown to lead Cedar Park. Next is a home game Friday against 0-2 Harker Heights.
18. A&M Consolidated (College Station) 2-0 (NR)
After racing to a 34-7 lead, the Tigers were forced to rally from behind to pull out a 44-41 thriller over 1-1 Midway (Waco). Quarterback
Kobe Miller's 1-yard touchdown run in the final three minutes capped the winning 41-yard drive. The Tigers' first win this season over Copperas Cove also came by a 44-41 score. Next is a road trip to 1-1 Westlake (Austin).
19. Cy-Fair (Cypress) 1-0 (22)
Coming off an open date, the Bobcats brace for a Thursday contest against 1-0 Jersey Village (Houston), a 34-0 winner over Tomball on Friday. Senior halfback
Dillon Birden romped for 163 yards in Cy-Fair's 37-16 opening win against 0-2 Katy Taylor (Katy).
20. Smithson Valley (Spring Branch) 2-0 (23)
Senior quarterback
Garrett Smith threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-21 victory over 1-1 United (Laredo).
Joseph Barsalou contributed eight catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns for the Rangers. Up next is a Friday contest against 2-0 Montwood (El Paso).
21. Aledo 2-0 (24)
Junior quarterback
Luke Bishop riddled the Stephenville pass defense for 248 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-14 rout of the 1-1 Yellow Jackets, the defending Class 3A Division I state champs. Aledo out-gained Stephenville by 247 yards. On Friday, Aledo hosts Monterrey Tech (Mexico).

22. Churchill (San Antonio) 2-0 (NR)
Nate Pearson threw for 260 yards and five touchdowns in a 36-10 rout of 1-1 Warren (San Antonio).
Dimitri Flowers had 10 catches for 181 yards and four touchdowns. The Chargers host 1-1 Judson (Converse) on Friday.
23. Mansfield Timberview (Arlington) 2-0 (NR)
Tevin Muse threw three touchdown passes, two to sophomore
Jaylon Loftis, and the 37-yard game winner to
Edward Paris with 38 seconds remaining in a 21-17 thriller over 1-1 Hebron. The Wolves limited Hebron to only 175 total yards. Up next is the Wolves' first road game at 1-0 Arlington.
24. Hendrickson (Pflugerville) 2-0 (NR)
Running back
Samaje Perine, an Oklahoma pledge, totaled 238 yards (196 rushing), all in the first half of a 52-0 blowout of 1-1 Leander. Next is a Friday road game against 2-0 Vandegrift (Austin).
25. Duncanville 2-0 (NR)
Jeremiah Drake threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns in a 50-20 grounding of Abilene.
Derrell Haynes added two touchdown runs for the Panthers. Next is a Friday road date against 2-0 Horn (Mesquite).
Dropped out: No. 16 Lufkin, No. 18 Judson (Converse), No. 19 Midway (Waco) No. 20 Hebron, No. 25 Warren.
