Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2020 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Jaxson Dart of
Corner Canyon (Draper) is the 2020 MaxPreps Utah High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback led the Chargers to a 14-0 record and Class 6A state title, throwing for 4,691 yards and 67 touchdowns. He added another 1,195 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
Dart was at his best in the state championship game, completing 25 of 36 pass attempts for 329 yards and four touchdowns as Corner Canyon rolled to a 45-7 win over Lone Peak. His most impressive stat line of the season may have come Oct. 2 in a win over Westlake when he completed 14 of 15 passes for 414 yards and seven touchdowns.
Corner Canyon ended the 2020 season on a 40-game win streak and has won three consecutive state titles.
247Sports pegs Dart as the No. 10 quarterback prospect in the senior class. He signed with USC in December over offers from Arizona State, BYU, Iowa State and UCLA among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released Jan. 29.

Jaxson Dart will take his game to the Pac-12 Conference next year.
