While California, Florida and Texas get much of the hype when it comes to ranking high school baseball teams, Arizona is a state that can't be ignored.
Such is the case this year as Greenway (Phoenix) is ranked among the top 25 teams in the MaxPreps National Computer Rankings and is also the No. 1 team in the Medium Schools National Rankings.
Greenway, the Division II state champion in Arizona, finished the year at 29-4 and edged Arkadelphia (Ark.) and College Station (Texas) for the top spot.
Medium schools are considered to be those teams that participate in state playoff divisions with enrollments generally between 1,000 and 2,000 students. The rankings are based on the
MaxPreps Computer Rankings.
Florida had the most teams in the Top 25 Medium Schools list with six while California had four and Missouri had three.
