MaxPreps concludes its high school baseball postseason awards with its MaxPreps Underclass All-America Baseball Teams
recognizing the top juniors, sophomores and freshmen players from the
2023 season.
Victorian, the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year, earned freshman and sophomore top honors and helped Barbe to its 12th state championship and a No. 3 rankings in the MaxPreps Top 25. He finished 8-0 with 80 strikeouts and a 0.97 ERA. He was also selected as the Louisiana MaxPreps Player of the Year.
Holliday grabs MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year honors one season from grabbing freshman accolades. The son of former MLB All-Star Matt Holliday and the brother of last year's first overall pick in the MLB Draft Jackson Holliday, Ethan had a big season for Stillwater with 15 home runs .451 batting average.
Buckley is the Freshman of the Year. In addition to leading the Class of 2026 in strikeouts with 133, he also was among the national leaders for freshmen in RBI, with 34, and home runs, with six. Last year as an eighth grader on the Columbia Academy varsity, Buckley earned all-area honors as Pitcher of the Year Columbian Progress. This year he was named the All-Area Player of the Year.
The 30 members of each of the three underclass All-American teams are selected based on their performance this year along with their potential to play at the next level.

Juniors
NATIONAL JUNIOR OF THE YEAR
P — Landon Victorian, Barbe (Lake Charles, La.), 6-3, 185
One of the nation's top pitchers, he led the Buccaneers to a 39-1 record and its 12th state championship. He picked up the 5-1 win over Sulphur in the semifinals of the Non-Select Division 1 playoffs and finished the season with an 8-0 record, 80 strikeouts, a 0.97 ERA and four walks in in 50.1 innings.
P — Ethan Schiefelbein, Corona (Calif.), 6-1, 175
The Riverside Press Enterprise Player of the Year and a member of the Los Angeles Times All-Area Team went 7-1 with a 0.64 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 55 innings.
P — Jamie Whittier, Centennial (Roswell, Ga.), 5-9, 170
The state leader in wins, Whittier had 12-1 with a 1.48 ERA and 95 strikeouts while earning all-state honors.
P — Austin Steeves, Casa Grande (Petaluma, Calif.), 6-1, 180
The California by Prep Baseball Report Pitcher of the Year, Steeves led the state in strikeouts with 158. He had a 10-3 record with a 0.39 ERA in 89.1 innings.
P — Ross Felder, Har-Ber (Springdale, Ark.), 6-2, 178
Led his team to a Class 6A state championship, winning MVP honors in the final game. He went 10-0 on the season with a 0.56 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 68.2 innings.
P — Blake O'Brien, Saint Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park, Kan.), 6-0, 185
The Class 5A Player of the Year by the state coaches association, O'Brien led the Saints to a third-place finish in the state tournament. He had 85 strikeouts in 49.1 innings, which ranked as the second-highest total in the state. He also had a 1.14 ERA and batted .363 with 13 doubles, three triples and a home run.
P — Jake Gregor, St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.), 6-4, 210
Made the All-State team by the coaches association after going 6-3 with a 1.30 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.
P — Nic Abraham, Franklin (Elk Grove, Calif.), 6-4, 205
The Sacramento Bee's All-Metro Co-Player of the Year was 10-0 with a 0.61 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 69 innings.
P — Jayden Dubanewicz, Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.), 6-3, 160
An All-State player by Prep Baseball Report, he went 11-0 with 58 strikeouts and a 1.16 ERA.
P — Thorpe Musci, Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 5-10, 160
A Gwinnett Daily Post All-County pick, he was 11-1 with a 2.23 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 69 innings.
C — Cade Arrambide, Tomball (Texas), 6-3, 190
Arrambide earned All-State honors by the coaches association after posting a .543 average on the year.
C — Drew Rogers, Mounds View (Arden Hills, Minn.), 6-0, 215
The Metro Player of the Year by the Star Tribune ranks as one of the top catchers in the nation in the Class of 2024. He hit over .400 with nine home runs and 46 RBI.
C — Burke Mabeus, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 6-4, 210
Made the All-Southern Nevada team by the Las Vegas Review Journal. He batted .453 with 36 RBI, 19 doubles, a triple and two home runs.
1B — Caleb Hoover, Rockwall-Heath (Rockwall, Texas), 6-2, 190
Named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area team, he hit .323 with 29 RBI. He also went 8-0 with 58 strikeouts and a 2.00 ERA.
1B — Tomas Valincius, Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.), 6-1, 195
Made the Tennessee Baseball Report All-State team with a .486 average and 30 runs, 41 RBI, 14 doubles and 10 home runs.
IF — Bryce Rainer, Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.), 6-3, 195
Named to All-Area teams by the Los Angeles Times and the Daily News, he hit .436 with nine doubles. He also pitched and had a 0.38 ERA in 21 innings.
IF — Owen Paino, Ketcham (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), 6-3, 205
The Poughkeepsie Journal Player of the Year, he led the Indians to a Class AA state championship and hit .425 with 35 RBI.
IF — Caleb Bonemer, Okemos (Mich.), 6-1, 195
Hit .541 for the Wolves with 35 RBI and eight home runs.
IF — Cade Brown, Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 6-2, 190
The Gwinnett Daily Post All-County pick batted .486 and led the Panthers with 14 home runs and 52 RBI.
IF — Devin Fitz-Gerald, Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.), 5-9, 165
Led the Eagles to the Class 7A state championship and a No. 2 ranking by MaxPreps while batting .417 with 32 RBI, four doubles, three triples and six home runs.
IF — Tyson Lewis, Millard West (Omaha, Neb.), 6-2, 195
The Wildcats went 32-7 on the year and finished second in Class A. Lewis led the state in stolen bases with 41 and batted .460 with 37 runs, 37 RBI, 11 doubles, three triples and two home runs. He also led the state in hits with 58.
OF — Konnor Griffin, Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.), 6-4, 210
Ranked as one of the top juniors in the nation by Perfect Game, Griffin went 7-1 for the MAIS Class 6A champions with 81 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA in 50.2 innings. He also batted .537 with six doubles, eight home runs, 43 runs and 30 RBI.
OF — PJ Morlando, Summerville (S.C.), 6-3, 200
An All-State pick by the coaches association for the Green Wave, Morlando batted .463 with six home runs, seven doubles, 28 runs and 19 RBI.
OF — Michael Mullinax, North Cobb Christian (Kennesaw, Ga.), 6-1, 195
Led his team to the first state championship in school history.
OF — Derek Curiel, Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), 6-2, 175
Rated as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2024 by Perfect Game, Curiel made the Southern Section's All-Division 1 team. He hit .358 with 32 runs, 12 RBI, eight doubles and a home run.
OF — John Pearson, West Monroe (West Monroe, La.), 6-0, 205
Led the Rebels to the Class 5A state finals two years in a row, winning the championship in 2022. He batted .424 with 15 doubles, seven triples and seven home runs. He also drove in 35 runs and scored 56.
OF — Slade Caldwell, Valley View (Jonesboro, Ark.), 5-9, 175
Had a 7-1 record on the mound with a 2.31 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 54.1 innings. He also batted .512 with 54 runs, seven doubles, seven triples and 40 stolen bases.
UT — Noah Franco, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), 6-3, 195
Excelled on the mound as he went 4-0 with a 1.62 ERA and 47 strikeouts and 30.1 innings . He also hit .320 with 20 runs, 13 RBI, three doubles, three triples and three home runs.
UT — Rylan Lujo, Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.) 6-1, 165
An All-State pick by Prep Baseball Report and an All-Broward County selection by High School Baseball Network, Lujo batted .415 with 28 RBI, 10 doubles and six home runs.
UT — Matthew Champion, JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), 6-0, 175
Named to the All-Southern Section Division 1 team and the Orange County Register's All-County team, Champion went 8-1 with a 1.65 ERA and 59 strikeouts.
SophomoresP — Brandon Gonzales , Sickles (Tampa, Fla.), 6-4, 205
Named to the All-State third team by Prep Baseball Report, he went 7-0 for the Class 6A state champions and posted a 2.03 ERA and 40 strikeouts.
P — Nicholas Partida, Pearland (Texas), 5-11, 165
Newcomer of the Year on the All-Greater Houston team by the Houston Chronicle, he went 13-0 with 87 strikeouts and a 1.08 ERA in 77.1 innings.
P — Carson Quillen, Greeneville (Tenn.), 5-10, 185
An All-State pick by Tennessee Baseball Report, he was 10-0 with a 0.62 ERA and 67 strikeouts. He also batted .426 with 36 RBI and two home runs.
P — Brady Ebel, Etiwanda (Calif.), 6-3, 185
Went 5-0 for the Eagles and earned Riverside Press-Enterprise All-Area honors. He also batted .367 with nine doubles, two home runs, 28 runs and 17 RBI.
P — Angel Cervantes, Warren (Downey, Calif.), 6-2, 185
Found a spot on the Southern Section All-Division 1 team and was also selected to the Long Beach Press Telegram Dream Team.
P — Xavier Mitchell, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas), 6-2, 155
Named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area team after going 8-1 with a 1.05 ERA and 112 strikeouts. He also batted .323.
P — Rivers Kurland, Berkeley Prep (Tampa, Fla.), 5-11, 175
Named to the 813Preps All-Area team, he posted a 7-2 record with a 1.98 ERA and 93 strikeouts.
P — Talon Haley, Lewisburg (Olive Branch, Miss.), 6-2, 180
The top pitcher for the Class 6A state champions, Haley was 8-0 with a 1.99 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 63.1 innings. Named All-State by Prep Baseball Report.
P — Carson Martin, Lakeland Christian (Lakeland, Fla.), 6-3, 200
Top pitcher for the Class 2A state champions and an All-State selection by Prep Baseball Report, Martin went 10-0 with 57 strikeouts and a 1.76 ERA.
P — Talan Holiday, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), 6-3, 180
Led the Patriots to a Class 5A state championship and earned All-State honors from Prep Baseball Report. He went 9-1 with a 1.28 ERA and 83 strikeouts.
C — Luke Billings, Prosper (Texas), 6-1, 160
Named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area team after hitting .366 with 15 doubles, five home runs and 26 RBI.
C — Luke Treece, Coalfield (Tenn.), 6-0, 185
Made the Tennessee Baseball Report All-State team after finishing with one of the top batting averages in the state at .538. He also had 64 base hits, 64 RBI, and 20 doubles.
C — Zachary Tuxhorn, Clear Lake (Houston, Texas), 5-11, 190
Named to the All-Greater Houston team and also a member of the coaches association All-State team, he batted .531 with 17 RBI and three home runs.
1B — Andrew De Leon, Alexander (Laredo, Texas), 6-1, 175
Named to the coaches association All-State team, he batted .383 on the season and also had a 4-1 record. Also named District 30-6A MVP.
1B — Mateo Rickman , Torrance (Calif.), 6-1, 210
The Daily Breeze Player of the Year and an All-Division 1 Southern Section pick batted .400 with three home runs and 32 RBI. He also went 3-0.
IF — JoJo Parker, Purvis (Miss.), 6-0, 160
An All-State pick by Prep Baseball Report, JoJo and his brother Jacob were the catalysts for Tornadoes' Class 4A state championship run. Jojo batted .487 with 60 runs, 44 RBI, 15 doubles and 15 home runs. He also had an 8-1 record with 85 strikeouts.
IF — Kayson Cunningham, Johnson (San Antonio, Texas), 5-9, 160
Named to the All-State team by the coaches association and the Class 6A All-State team by the San Antonio News Express.
IF — Diego Velasquez, Crespi (Encino, Calif.), 6-1, 160
The Southern Section Division 2 Player of the Year and Los Angeles Daily News All-Area Player of the Year, he hit .354 with 15 RBI, eight doubles, two triples and two home runs. He also went 5-0 with a 1.39 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 50.1 innings.
IF — Sean Gamble, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), 6-1, 185
Led the Ascenders in home runs with seven and also batted .367 with 23 runs, 24 RBI and three doubles.
IF — Lalo Aguirre, Olivet (Mich.), 5-10, 165
The only sophomore named to the coaches association Dream Team, Aguirre batted .512 on the season with 57 RBI.
IF — Ryan Mitchell, Houston (Germantown, Tenn.), 5-11, 155
An All-State first team pick by Tennessee Baseball Report, Mitchell had 55 base hits and 53 runs scored.
OF — Grant Karnes, Greenwood (Ark.), 6-1, 175
An all-state player, Karnes batted .386 with four doubles and 25 runs scored. He also went 8-1 with 74 strikeouts and a 1.74 ERA in 56.1 innings.
OF — Jordan Rich, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), 5-7, 140
An All-State selection by Prep Baseball Report, Rich had a .414 batting average with 38 runs, 17 stolen bases and four doubles.
OF — Dean Moss, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), 6-0, 185
One of the top hitters for the MaxPreps National Champions, he hit .372 with 28 runs, 20 RBI, two doubles, two triples, and three home runs.
OF — Grady Lenahan, Patriot (Nokesville, Va.), 5-10, 155
Earned all-state honors and was also the region and district player of the year. He made the Washington Post All-Met second team.
OF — Cam Caminiti, Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.), 6-1, 190
The nephew of former MLB third baseman Ken Caminiti, Cam was the AIA 4A Conference Player of the Year. He batted .446 with 29 runs, seven doubles, two triples, four home runs and 25 RBI. Caminiti has since reclassified to the Class of 2024.
OF — Everett Johnson, Wayne Country Day (Goldsboro, N.C.), 5-9, 165
Named to the NCISAA Class 3A All-State team, Johnson batted .443 with 39 runs, 23 RBI, nine doubles, four triples and a home run.
NATIONAL SOPHOMORE OF THE YEAR
UT — Ethan Holliday, Stillwater (Okla.), 6-3, 185
An All-State pick by the Oklahoman with a .451 batting average, 43 RBI and 15 home runs. He also had 51 walks, which was one of the highest totals in the nation.
UT — Evan Hankins, John Battle (Bristol, Va.), 6-5, 215
An All-State Class 2A pick this year for Battle, Hankins has since transferred to Miller School. He had four home runs at the plate and had five pitching wins.
UT — Jacob Parker, Purvis (Miss.), 6-3, 195
Combined with his brother JoJo to lead the Tornadoes to a state championship. He batted .434 with 47 runs, 42 RBI, nine doubles and 14 home runs. He earned All-State honors from Prep Baseball Report.
FreshmenP — Austin Finegan, Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), 6-0, 170
Earned Fresno Bee All-Area honors.
P — Wilson Andersen, Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.), 6-1, 158
Although he had only a 1-1 record, he had a team best 52 strikeouts in 33 innings for the Class 5A state runner-up.
P — Bradyn Garner, West Monroe (La.), 6-0, 185
Went 1-0 for the Class 5A state runner-up and had a team-high 43 strikeouts in 29 innings. He was all-state honorable mention.
P — Zayne Hookala, Kailua (Kailua, Hawaii), 5-10, 155
An honorable mention All-State pick by Scoring Live was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 27 innings.
P — Chandler Hart, Allen (Texas), 6-5, 195
Made the Dallas Morning News All-Area team with a 0.87 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 66.1 innings.
P — Spencer Krasner, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), 6-3, 165
Had a 5-1 record with a 2.19 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 38.1 innings for the Class 5A state champions.
P — Landon Schutte, Oakdale (Calif.), 6-4, 210
The Modesto Bee All-District pick went 3-0 record with a 1.83 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 46 innings.
NATIONAL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
P — Logan Buckley, Columbia Academy (Columbia, Miss.), 6-2, 210
The all-area player of the year was 7-1 with a 1.48 ERA and a nation-best 133 strikeouts in 66.1 innings. He also batted .362 with 34 RBI, eight doubles and six home runs.
P — Coleman Borthwick, South Walton (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), 6-6, 225
Named to the All-State team by Prep Baseball Report, he hit .475 with 21 runs, 39 RBI, six doubles, two triples and three home runs. He also went 5-1 with a 0.89 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 55 innings.
P — Matthew McClenan, Brandeis (San Antonio, Texas), 6-0, 160
The Newcomer of the Year by the San Antonio News Express went 8-3 with a 1.36 ERA and 55 strikeouts.
C — Teagan Scott, South Salem (Salem, Ore.), 5-10, 180
Named to the Class 6A All-State second team, Scott also found a spot on the Statesman Journal's All-Mid-Valley team.
C — Jorvorskie Lane Jr., Wyatt (Fort Worth, Texas), 5-9, 173
A member of the All-State team by the coaches association, Lane batted .493 with 51 runs, 23 RBI, six doubles, seven triples and six home runs.
C — Cole Teltschik, Discovery Canyon (Colorado Springs, Colo.), 6-0, 160
Named honorable mention all-state, he hit .453 with 38 RBI, 17 doubles and seven home runs.
1B — Cal Purvis, Bishop Carroll (Wichita, Kan.), 6-1, 185
A second team All-State pick by the coaches association, Purvis batted .381 with 30 RBI, seven doubles and three home runs for the Class 5A state champions.
1B — Bryce Fountain, Norris (Firth, Neb.), 6-2, 190
An honorable mention All-State Class B selection by the Lincoln Star Journal, Fountain committed to play at Nebraska last year as an eighth grader.
IF — Deacon Nelson, University School (Hunting Valley, Ohio), 6-0, 155
A second team Division 1 All-State selection by the state coaches association, Nelson batted .402 with 33 RBI and eight doubles.
IF — Grady Emerson, Argyle (Texas), 6-1, 175
The Dallas Morning News Newcomer of the Year batted .333 with 15 doubles, five triples, two home runs, 35 RBI and 38 runs scored for the Class 5A runner-up.
IF — James Tronstein , Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.), 5-11, 160
The Los Angeles Daily News Freshman of the Year hit .344 with 17 RBI, five doubles and 10 stolen bases.
IF — Colton Guillot, Pensacola Catholic (Pensacola, Fla.), 5-11, 170
Earned All-Area honors by the News Journal as he batted .319 with 21 RBI, seven doubles and six home runs.
IF — Andrew Costello, Cathedral Prep (Erie, Pa.), 5-9, 170
Earned All-District 10 honors after batting .412 with seven doubles, five home runs and 41 RBI.

Made All-Area by the Long Beach Press Telegram after leading the Gladiators to the Southern Section Division 2 quarterfinals.

The Press-Enterprise All-Area pick hit .342 with 18 RBI, five doubles and six home runs.
OF — Dom Massaro, South Plainfield (N.J.), 5-8, 155
The Newcomer of the Year by NJ.com batted .402 with 29 RBI, nine doubles, three triples and two home runs.
OF — Jaxon Matthews, Hough (Cornelius, N.C.), 6-3, 180
An All-State choice by the coaches association after batting .558 with eight doubles, three triples and two home runs.
OF — Brady Harris, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.), 6-1, 170
An All-First Coast selection hit .337 with 25 runs, 31 RBI, five doubles, three triples and five home runs.
OF — Ethan Trahan, Horizon (Scottsdale, Ariz.), 5-9, 170
An all-conference selection, Trahan led the Huskies with a .446 batting average. He also had 28 runs, 35 RBI, 13 doubles and two home runs.
OF — Bryce Morrison, Gahr (Cerritos, Calif.), 6-0, 180
The Southern Cal commit played at first base and in the outfield and made the Long Beach Press Telegram Dream Team.
UT — Nathaneal Davis, Trinity Prep (Winter Park, Fla.), 6-0, 165
Made the All-State team by Prep Baseball Report, he batted .443 with 33 runs, 26 RBI, seven doubles, two triples and two home runs. He also had a 3-0 record with a 1.69 ERA and 36 strikeouts.
UT — Logan Corley, Lovejoy (Lucas, Texas), 6-1, 175
A Dallas Morning News All-Area pick, Corley had a 1.37 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 61 innings and he also hit .324 with three home runs.
UT — Ezekiel Lara, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 5-11, 155
Played third base and outfield for the Monarchs and was named to the Southern Section All-Division 1 team.
