Video: Top hoops prospects Harry Giles-Jayson Tatum considering package deal? Two of the nation’s top 2016 high school basketball talents may be headed to the same college program.Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones committed to Duke simultaneously in November of 2013 and were touted as one the greatest package deals in college basketball history before ever playing a minute for the Blue Devils.
Okafor and Jones delivered in their lone season in Durham, helping legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski win his fifth national title.
Now comes word
via Luke Winn of Sports Illustrated that super friends
Harry Giles and
Jayson Tatum — two of the top five prospects in high school basketball's Class of 2016 — may be planning a package deal that could potentially surpass the Okafor-Jones pairing.
Playing in the FIBA U19 World Championship in Greece earlier this week, Tatum told Winn the scenario is a "pretty strong possibility."
So which school could benefit from the duo's desire to play together? Duke.
The Blue Devils are the favorite for both,
according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
The
247Sports Composite rankings have Giles tagged as the No. 1 prospect in America while Jayson Tatum checks in at No. 4. Both were members of the 2014-15
MaxPreps All-American Team and also teamed up with USA Basketball at the U16 and U17 level.
