Video: Xcellent 25 High School Football RankingsZack Poff takes a look at this week's Top 25 with Carol City the only new team. Three teams from Southern California are now in the Top 10.
Centennial (Corona, Calif.) moved up this week to No. 10 after earning its second consecutive quality win beating Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), 45-28. The Huskies outscored the Lancers 35-7 in the second half and finished the night with nearly 250 yards rushing. Centennial's defense dominated the final 24 minutes and could be Matt Logan's best defense since
Vontaze Burfict led them to a state title in 2008.
St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) stayed at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.
The Braves shutout their second consecutive opponent to start the 2018 season beating Garces Memorial (Bakersfield, Calif.), 56-0. They allowed nine total yards and 5-star quarterback
DJ Uiagalelei finishing the night completing 11-of-13 passes for nearly 150 yards and three scores while only playing a quarter and a half.

Mater Dei, the defending national champs, had the most impressive win of the weekend handing Las Vegas power Bishop Gorman its first shutout loss since 2006.
Bryce Young, a 2020 USC commit, accounted for five touchdowns and 2019 Oregon commit
Sean Dollars had three touchdowns of at least 49 yards.
The big question was would Mater Dei drop in the Top 25. After looking at the issue, it does not affect their standing. If you want more information on the reasoning just reach out to me on

The other big-time win was
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). They blanked DMV power DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.), 38-0.
