The 2021 high school football season in Kentucky kicks off next week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Perennial power Trinity begins the season at No. 1, though the Shamrocks are without legendary coach Bob Beatty, who retired after 20 seasons.
Former defensive coordinator Jay Cobb takes over for Beatty and has plenty to work with on the heels of Trinity's second straight Class 6A title. The Rocks graduated 20 of 22 starters, but return three-star running back Armon Tucker.
Our projections have 6A teams Male, which lost to Trinity is last year's title game, as well as St. Xavier and DuPont Manual ready to challenge Cobb's squad.
Outside of Trinity, defending state champions include Bowling Green in 5A, Boyle County (4A), Blazer (3A), Beechwood (2A) and Paintsville (1A).
