Texas continues its hold of the top two spots in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard, but its position is tenuous.
Both No. 1 Cedar Hill and No. 2 Allen used explosive offenses to knock off quality opponents, but both have allowed 30 or more points in each of their first two games.
St. Thomas Aquinas, which sits at No. 3, looked superb in its season-opening win on both sides of the ball, dominating American Heritage, 38-7.
Another impressive effort Aquinas this week, in which it travels to take on Don Bosco Prep, could allow the Florida power to leapfrog both Texas schools.
Manvel, Gonzaga and Elder all enter the rankings this week.
