Softball Game Preview: St. Joseph Flyers vs. Saint Mary's Hall Barons

St. Joseph is a perfect 3-0 against Saint Mary's Hall since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. St. Joseph will challenge Saint Mary's Hall at 4:00 p.m. St. Joseph is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

St. Joseph's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on San Antonio Christian with a sharp 10-0 win. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

St. Joseph got a massive performance out of Gianna Morris, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Morris has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Azilee Leita, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Joseph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Antonio Christian only posted an OBP of .176.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Saint Mary's Hall's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against St. Joseph, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Barons have suffered since February 13th.

St. Joseph's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Saint Mary's Hall, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5-1.

St. Joseph's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. St. Joseph has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Saint Mary's Hall, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Joseph continue to outrun the ball?

Everything went St. Joseph's way against Saint Mary's Hall in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as St. Joseph made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Joseph since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
