It was a good run, but the Evansville Central Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Princeton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Evansville Central saw an underclassman step up: Madalynn Shirley scored 25 points along with five assists. Shirley has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times she's played. Mya Skelton was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Princeton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lexi Smith, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Azaryon Wesley, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Evansville Central's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Princeton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Evansville Central will square off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jasper is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Princeton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Heritage Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
