This season hasn't been kind to the Great Falls Red Devils, who are still winless after their 11th contest. Their rough 40-20 defeat to Cambridge Academy on Friday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Great Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Cambridge Academy is ranked 91st).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cambridge Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jillian Mapes, who scored 22 points along with three steals. The game was Mapes' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Indya Southerland, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Great Falls' loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Cambridge Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Great Falls and Buford will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Cambridge Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Our Lady of the Rosary is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
