Basketball Recap: Bryson Roberts Key Part of a Team Effort in Cowboys Win

Grantsville lost to Summit Academy back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. Everything went the Grantsville Cowboys' way against the Summit Academy Bears as the Grantsville Cowboys made off with a 70-50 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grantsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryson Roberts, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. With that strong performance, Roberts is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Sparks, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Grantsville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Summit Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nixon Savage, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 boards, and Ashton Hernandez, who put up 16 points.

Grantsville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Summit Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Grantsville will face off against Bear River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grantsville is facing Bear River at the right time seeing as Bear River is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Summit Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-53 defeat against Union on the 30th.
