The Jamestown Red Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Mount Mercy Academy Magic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Wednesday, Jamestown was the victim of a rough 68-43 loss at the hands of Orchard Park. Jamestown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.
Meanwhile, Mount Mercy Academy suffered a tough 51-25 defeat at the hands of Lake Shore on Monday. While losing is never fun, Mount Mercy Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Lake Shore is ranked 110th).
Jamestown dropped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mount Mercy Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Jamestown was able to grind out a solid victory over Mount Mercy Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 49-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jamestown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
