There's no place like home for the Heritage Christian Patriots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Living Word Lutheran by a score of 66-57 on Tuesday. Given Heritage Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Living Word Lutheran is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heritage Christian had a senior duo take command as Mike Bowen Jr. scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks and Desmond Jones scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Alex Trotter was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Easton Oliver, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Oliver has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Weissenburger, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Heritage Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Living Word Lutheran, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Christian will challenge Messmer at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Heritage Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Living Word Lutheran, they will head out on the road to face off against University School of Milwaukee at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
