Sabetha is 8-2 against Hiawatha since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bluejays will venture away from home to face off against the Red Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Sabetha is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Sabetha will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Rossville, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 20-10 win on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bluejays considering their two-run performance the game before.

Chloe Detweiler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Halley Mitchell was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Kiera Keim was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Sabetha hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.
Hiawatha couldn't beat Silver Lake on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Red Hawks lost 26-7 to the Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Red Hawks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Claire Twombly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Sabetha's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Hiawatha, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sabetha hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Hiawatha struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sabetha was able to grind out a solid win over Hiawatha in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 7-4. Will the Bluejays repeat their success, or do the Red Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
