The Schulenburg Shorthorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 63-27 loss at the hands of Seguin. Schulenburg found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Schulenburg still got an impressive performance from Kaylee Beyer, who scored eight points. Beyer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Even though they lost, Schulenburg were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Seguin to victory were Arianna Shular and Karina Lerma. Shular scored 18 points, while Lerma scored six points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. Presley Rangel was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Schulenburg has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Seguin, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-16.
Schulenburg and Bellville will round out the year against one another at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday at. Seguin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Columbus at 2:45 p.m. on December 28th. Columbus presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Seguin in Texas (Columbus is ranked 506th, while Seguin is ranked 1106th).
