The Overland Trailblazers posted their closest victory since December 11, 2023 on Saturday. They skirted past Grandview 51-48. Given Overland's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Wolves are ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Overland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Siraaj Ali, who scored 12 points along with six assists and two steals. Ali hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronald Henry, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Grandview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Holtman, who scored 11 points. Jalen Dourisseau was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Overland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Grandview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.
Overland will be playing at home against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Smoky Hill knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matches -- so hopefully the Trailblazers likes a good challenge. As for Grandview, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cherry Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
