Lincoln Southwest had won nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 8-0 to make it ten. They blew past the Grand Island Islanders 10-1. The Silver Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Maisey McCarty was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024.
In other pitching news, Bryn Pribnow tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Brenly Noerrlinger and Veronica Vela did most of the damage at the plate: Noerrlinger went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Vela went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Noerrlinger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Gabel, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Lincoln Southwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
As for Grand Island, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. The contest marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.
On Grand Island's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madisyn Hostetler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Hostetler has snagged this season.
Looking ahead, Lincoln Southwest will face off against Fossil Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Silver Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the SaberCats have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Grand Island, they will head out to take on Lincoln Southeast at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
