Florence Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They steamrollered King's Academy 56-21. Florence Christian was expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Florence Christian's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 49 points in the first half. King's Academy came up with 6 to put the score at 49-6. Florence Christian were outperformed in the second half 7-15 but had enough in reserve from the first to take the game. This was the first game for both teams, giving Florence Christian a 1-0 record and starting King's Academy off at 0-1.
