Walton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Unatego Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Walton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Wednesday.
Walton can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match. They blew past Unadilla Valley 52-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Walton has posted since November 30, 2023.
Walton found their leader in underclassman Grace Walley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Walley has scored at least a third of Walton's points. Ella Beardslee was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and six steals.
Meanwhile, Unatego opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-41 loss to they on January 3rd. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Walton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Unatego, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.
Walton might still be hurting after the 55-31 defeat they got from Unatego in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Walton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
