Newberry Academy lost against the Curtis Baptist Crusaders back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Newberry Academy was outmatched by Curtis Baptist on the road and fell 50-12. Newberry Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-4.
Curtis Baptist found their leader in underclassman Maci Butler, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Butler set a new season high mark in steals with eight. Mia Price was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Newberry Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Curtis Baptist, their win bumped their record up to 7-3-1.
Newberry Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Oakbrook Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Curtis Baptist will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Laurens Academy at 2:00 p.m. on December 22nd.
