Fruitport proved they can win big  on Wednesday (they won by 13) and  on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  14-12  victory over the Holton Red Devils. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
 Kya Tawney and  Brylee Dewitt did most of the damage at the plate:  Tawney  went 3-for-5 with one  home run, three  runs,  and two  doubles, while  Dewitt  went 2-for-4 with one  home run and two  runs. That's the most  doubles  Tawney has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Madyson Prout, who  went 1-for-5 with one  home run and two  RBI.
 Fruitport was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .407 or higher in five consecutive  contests.
Fruitport's win was  their fifth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 15-2. The  road  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Holton, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record  this season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fruitport will head out to  square off against Hopkins  at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 9.5  runs per game this season. As for Holton, they will take on Ravenna at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
