The Holy Redeemer Royals are taking a road trip to take on the Pittston Patriots at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Holy Redeemer made easy work of MMI Preparatory School and carried off an 11-5 win.
Holy Redeemer got a massive performance out of Zachary Schultz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Quaglia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Holy Redeemer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Pittston put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Greater Nanticoke Area a 17-0 shutout. The matchup marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Brady Baldrica looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Silvio Giardina was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Beau Widdick, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and three runs.
Pittston pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Redeemer, their record now sits at 7-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holy Redeemer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Pittston struggles in that department as they've averaged .406. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Holy Redeemer came up short against Pittston in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
