The Lone Star Longhorns will head out on the road to challenge the Deer Trail Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Lone Star will be strutting in after a win while the Eagles will be coming in after a defeat.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 4 on the offensive boards, a fact Lone Star proved on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Belleview Christian 51-19 on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Lone Star just coasted through the last quarter.
Lone Star got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amanda Kubitz out in front who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Peytyn Kuntz, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Deer Trail was beaten by the Eagles 73-26 on Tuesday. Deer Trail has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Lone Star's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for Deer Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Lone Star came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 35-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lone Star since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
