Black River was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They were a single  set away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brookside Cardinals. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won  3-2.
 While Black River ultimately came up short, they really made  Brookside work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 26-24, 25-23, 17-25,  15-6.

 Despite the loss, Black River still got an impressive performance from   Remington Dieter, who  had 34  digs and three  aces. Dieter has been hot recently, having  posted 17 or more  digs the last four times she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Kate Dieter, who  had 18  digs and two assists.
 Leading Brookside to victory were  Alyssa Popowski and  Lily Schremp.  Popowski  had 12  digs and three  aces, while  Schremp  had 18  digs and three  assists. Those  three  assists gave  Schremp a new career-high.
Black River's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Brookside, their victory was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 8-11.
