The Acalanes Dons have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Las Lomas by a score of 64-54 on Monday. This was payback for Acalanes, who suffered a 72-57 loss the last time these two teams met.
Acalanes got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddox Malm out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavin Dodge, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Las Lomas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Pangilinan. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pangilinan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Jones, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Acalanes' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-18. As for Las Lomas, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season.
Acalanes won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Ugly Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Clayton Valley Charter will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Las Lomas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
