The Broadwater Academy Vikings can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Portsmouth Christian with a 47-42 win. The win was just what Broadwater Academy needed coming off of a 57-8 defeat in their prior matchup.
Leah Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Watson, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Portsmouth Christian still got an impressive performance from Adrianna Reynolds, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reynolds has scored all season. Cloee Comberiati was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals and two blocks.
Broadwater Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Portsmouth Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broadwater Academy will face off against Denbigh Baptist Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portsmouth Christian, they will take on Isle of Wight Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Isle of Wight Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Portsmouth Christian in Virginia (Isle of Wight Academy is ranked 164th, while Portsmouth Christian is ranked 371st).
