The Schulenburg Shorthorns were the 57-24 winner over the Louise Hornets when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Schulenburg took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Louise. Schulenburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Schulenburg lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Kaylee Beyer. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with five rebounds. Beyer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Arianna Vincent was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Schulenburg were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This was only their 12th loss (out of 15 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Among those leading the charge was Hannah Ochoa, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Monica Montes, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Schulenburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Louise, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.
Schulenburg and Seguin will round out the year against one another at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday at. Seguin is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Louise will finish 2023 at home by hosting Tidehaven at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
