Marathon is 8-2 against Miami Country Day since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Marathon Dolphins will welcome the Miami Country Day Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Marathon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Marathon will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Somerset Academy South Homestead on Thursday. Marathon blew past Somerset Academy South Homestead 21-1. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 11 runs or more this season.
Shane Dieguez looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Marathon: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Jason Stubblefield Jr. was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Gabriel Leal was another key player, going 1-for-4 with five RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Miami Country Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Northwestern, falling 17-2.
Miami Country Day saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Jackson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Parker Zaron also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Marathon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Miami Country Day's loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Miami Country Day's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marathon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. It's a different story for Miami Country Day, though, as they've only averaged .181. Will they be able to contain Marathon's hitters?
