The Kankakee Valley Kougars waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 59-51 victory over Portage. This was payback for Kankakee Valley, who suffered a 64-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kankakee Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Camden Webster, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Webster has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bobby Lalonde, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Wellman, who scored 15 points. Michael Wellman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Kankakee Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Portage, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Kankakee Valley will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hobart at 7:00 p.m. Hobart is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Portage, Portage and Crown Point will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crown Point has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 321 points over their last five matchups.
