Five high school baseball players – including a trio of sophomores – lead the nation with 13 home runs this season according to stats submitted to MaxPreps.

Bat came alive in April with seven home runs, including a bomb in three straight games between April 8-11. The .518 hitter leads the Cougars into the playoffs beginning today.
Bryce Fontenot, So., Cherokee Bluff (Flowery Branch, Ga.)Had six home runs in the final six games of the season including two on April 15. Also averages nearly two strikeouts per inning on the mound for a playoff squad.
Zack Hale, Sr., The Classical Academy (Colorado Springs, Colo.)Headed to Trinidad State, the catcher was unstoppable on both sides of the dish. In just 46 at-bats this season, he recorded 20 extra-base hits including the 13 home runs. Between March 15-28 he homered in five straight games. The Titans have five regular season games remaining.
Blake Lundy, So., Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.)The sophomore hits a home run in one of every six at-bats for the Red Raiders. With three regular season games to play, Lundy looks to leave his mark on the program just four years after Nick Kurtz graduated from the Tennessee school. Kurtz will make his Major League debut with the Athletics tonight after being selected No. 4 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft.
Zack Malvasio, Sr., St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)The Central Florida commit hits .410 for a Raiders team ranked No. 13 in the state. He hit home runs in the final two games of the regular season as St. Thomas Aquinas gets ready for the postseason today.

Cy Chrisman, Jr., Maple Mountain (Spanish Fork, Utah)Committed to Oklahoma State, the junior hit three home runs in an April 19 victory. The Golden Eagles are ranked No. 2 in Utah and have seven regular season games remaining.
Dawson McInelly, Sr., Sugar-Salem (Sugar City, Idaho)The Utah Tech commit hit home runs in eight straight games between March 31-April 21 with 11 bombs over that span. Also an ace, the senior has a 5-0 record and has not allowed an earned run in 26.2 innings.
Landyn Plaut, Sr., Lincoln (Calif.)Headed to play at William Jessup, the senior does much more than hit home runs. On the mound he has a 0.75 ERA with three no-hitters. With the bat in his hands he has three-multi home run games with a .485 average on a Raging Rhinos squad that has five regular season games left.
Malachi Washington, Jr., Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.)Hits .553 for a Panthers unit ready for the postseason. The LSU commit started the season by hitting bombs in three of the first four games. hit five home runs between March 12-21.
Quentin Young, Sr., Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.)A top 10 prospect committed to LSU, the senior has three multi-home run games this season for a Lions squad with seven contests remaining. Uncle Dmitri Young was selected fourth overall in the 1991 MLB Draft and hit 171 career bombs with four teams. Another Uncle Delmon Young hit a home run in the 2012 World Series and was the first overall pick of the 2003 draft after hitting 24 bombs in his final two seasons at Camarillo.
