Despite the loss, Columbia Academy saw an underclassman step up: Reese Shirley scored 13 points along with two steals. Shirley hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Middle Tennessee Christian suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Baylor by a score of 48-45.
Despite their loss, Middle Tennessee Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Anna clay Shirley, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Smith, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Columbia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Columbia Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Middle Tennessee Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 23.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
