The Smithville Warriors were the 52-43 winner over the Grandview Bulldogs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The game between Smithville and Grandview wasn't particularly close, with Smithville falling 50-34. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Smithville came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Grandview is ranked 68th).
Jada Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grandview, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Smith continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sh'ryah Wright was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Smithville's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Grandview, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will take on Kearney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kearney focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday. As for Grandview, they will head out on the road to face off against Excelsior Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
