The Donovan Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-37 to Clifton Central. Donovan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clifton Central apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Donovan still got an impressive performance from Griffen Walters, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Walters continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Carter Ponton was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Donovan has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Clifton Central, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Donovan won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Watseka at 6:45 p.m. on January 6th. As for Clifton Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Grace Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Christian Academy is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
