Julianna Walker has some more scoring to do.
The nation's second-leading scorer at 34.9 points per game for Annie Wright (Tacoma, Wash.) continues her fabulous junior season Thursday night in WIAA 1A playoff action when the seventh-seeded Gators take on top-seed Cashmere.
Walker, a 5-foot-5 junior, propelled her team into second round play by scoring right at her season's average, 35 points to go along with seven assists in a 72-46 victory over Meridian Wednesday.
In her first 18 games, Walker broke the 40-point barrier four times, with a high of 46. A high volume 3-point shooter, Walker made 116 treys in that span (6.4 per game), including a high of nine. She's made a remarkable 85 of 91 free throws (93 percent).
Walker is one of 12 players to average at least 30 points per game. The leader is Kayla McPherson, another junior, from Madison County (Danielsville, Ga.) at 36.3 per game. Her last six games have not yet been inputted.
Another person still in the playoff hunt, is the nation's top scoring freshman Chloe Briggs of Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.), who averages 34.8 points per game. The 5-11 wing had 44 points, 15 rebounds and six assists in a 63-51 CIF Southern California Division Division 4 win over Eagle Rock on Tuesday.
