The Aberdeen Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 79-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Poly. While losing is never fun, Aberdeen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Poly is ranked 49th).
Aberdeen's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of DARION PARRIS, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists, and AUSTIN CARTER who scored 18 points along with seven assists. PARRIS scored a full 31% of Aberdeen's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of JUSTIN FRANKLIN, who scored 16 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poly to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chaz Fisher, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Fisher scored 15 or more points. Elisha Kutcherman was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds.
Aberdeen has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Poly, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Aberdeen will be playing at home against Elkton at 6:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Poly is on the road again on Thursday and play against Lake Clifton at 5:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
